Volunteer Uganda: Inspiring Futures

What is Volunteer Uganda? An award winning group of organisations dedicated to overcoming poverty in Uganda.

Our Mission: To support communities in Uganda in their efforts to rise out of poverty. To help bring about permanent, sustainable development through a combination of educational infrastructure development, job creation, health promotion and skills-transfer based volunteering.

Where do we work? We work in rural south-western Uganda where families live in real poverty. Fertility exceeds 8 children per woman and over 90% of the population live on less than 1 dollar a day.

Who are our supporters? We have over a 1000 supporters from all over the world; hundreds have been actively involved in our work.

What have we achieved so far? We have built and run four Primary schools, a High school and a College which is on the brink of achieving University status. We have hosted hundreds of volunteers and have developed successful partnerships with Arsenal Football Club and the UK-based educational charity Teach First.

Are we winning awards? We were top winners, out of 350 NGOs across Africa in the 'Pan African Awards 2012' for Entrepreneurship in Education. This was judges by WHO representatives for the international charity 'Teach a Man to Fish'.

Where do I fit in? Volunteer Uganda is making good education a reality for over 2,000 young people for whom it would otherwise have remained an impossible dream.

A fantastic amount has been achieved in the last ten years. With your help we can do more...
