What does it cost?
The Volunteer Uganda Adventure and Safari packages offer fantastic value for a fully inclusive, accompanied volunteer experience of a lifetime.
Our unique packages include the support you will need to have an enjoyable, useful and safe experience:
- 1 week of induction with basic training
- 5 or 11 weeks of school placement
- Ongoing mentoring and full time support
- Basic local language lessons
- Full time local staff living on site
Your accommodation, food and transport in Uganda are included:

- Meet and transfer at Entebbe airport
- Overnight accommodation at Kampala
- Transfer to the Volunteer Uganda lodge
- Accommodation at the lodge throughout your stay
- Food while at the lodge (3 good meals per day)
- Transport to and from teaching placements
- Transfer back to Kampala and to Entebbe airport
The inclusive cost depends on which package you select and how long you stay. Prices for 2011 are:

Inclusive excursions
Most volunteers come to Africa to make their contribution to the local community. But you really should see Uganda while you are there! The following excursions are INCLUDED IN THE COST of all packages:
- Weekend of R and R Lake Bunyoni
- Hiking in the Bwindi Foothills
- Visiting a Pygmy Community
Optional excursions
We also run some fantastic optional excursions to make your volunteer adventure truly outstanding.
Most of our volunteers are working to a tight budget, but going on safari for a few hundred pounds or trekking to the “gorillas in the mist” is an opportunity that you may never have again!

What is not included?
You need to budget for your travel to Africa, health arrangements and personal spending money:
- Flights to and From Entebbe Airport
- Insurance (compulsory)
- Malaria Preventatives (compulsory)
- Vaccinations
- Optional distance learning TEFL course before you depart
Social enterprise
Volunteer Uganda Ltd is a social enterprise.
All the money you pay us will be spent on running the trip, on developing gap year facilities and on the Volunteer Uganda projects. We do not make a profit and our London staff work unpaid.

How can I raise the funds?
Most volunteers need to fundraise in order to finance their trip.
We encourage fundraising as it spreads the word about our programme and the life changing work done by the Volunteer Uganda charities. It can also look great on a CV and be a lot of fun.
Fundraise towards your trip
Lots of students are currently fundraising to come and volunteer.
Many people will happily contribute towards the cost of your volunteering ... but probably not for your excursions ... so you should start by working out the cost of the adventure package plus your flights and insurance.

Fundraise for your school in Uganda
You can fundraise as much money as you want for your school in Uganda. The more the better but £10 can buy a football or £30 a volleyball net. Its great seeing the happiness a contribution can bring!
You can spend the money on your school in the way you see is most valuable when you are out there. Some volunteers families or friends like to make a donation for the volunteer to give during their trip.
Fundraising Ideas
- Do a sponsored run! A swim! Or a Hike!
- Marathon, Half Marathon, Fun Run or even a Santa Run.
- The 3 peaks hike!
- Lads have a wax! Grow a Mo, Shave that Beard or lose those 80s locks! (Get sponsored to squeal)
- Wash some filthy cars for a good cause and get paid generously
- Do gardening for people for charity
- Do a Sky Dive (two volunteers have managed to raise £1,200 by getting sponsored to do a tandem sky dive!)

Tons of students buy and sell Krispy Cremes Donuts on campus. Krispy cremes have a promotion for charities and good causes. Buy a minimum of 10x12 donuts for £37.50. Sell them for £1 each! Completely legal and make £80. This accounts for you eating about 10!
If you can get a few friends on it you can sell hundreds in a day!
