MORE ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
An immersive leadership development programme
A VU program is a 6 week in-country placement where volunteers and in-country teachers work together to ensure all children are learning. Our program is designed on four foundations; mutual empowerment; collaboration and sharing; sustainability, and innovation.
Effective and meaningful experiences
For volunteers, the experience starts from the moment they are confirmed on one of our programs, with careful guided preparation beginning many months before arriving in country. Pre-departure activities include self-directed study modules, peer-support from Team Leaders and Program Managers, (in person/web-based sessions) and socials. These are designed to ensure volunteers are well equipped with the skills and attitudes to both be effective and enjoy the experience.
Collaboration with partners and educators
Whilst in-country, our volunteers work in collaboration with local teachers to support the quality of learning in classrooms. Feedback consistently shows that volunteers who are best prepared for the experience have the best chance of a long lasting impact, both for themselves and those they work with.
