RURAL UGANDA

All Volunteer Uganda projects support schools and communities in Kanungu district, situated in the Bwindi region of southwest Uganda. As a result of being so rural, Kanungu district is a relatively undiscovered and understudied part of Uganda.

GREAT LAKES

Kanungu is located at the heart of the Great Lakes region of Africa. Lake Victoria, the second biggest fresh water lake in the world, can be seen on arrival into Uganda. Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda's deepest lake, is regularly visited by volunteers and visiting supporters of Volunteer Uganda.
